Due to the 19th Avenue Roundabout construction and the Willmar Wye Project impacting HWY 40, a detour is in place for those wishing to access the Willmar Brush Site. Residents will need to take the HWY 71/23 Bypass to Priam and turn right on County Road 116.

Brush Site details

Mondays 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Wednesdays 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Saturdays 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Brush Site season typically runs from April to November; however, the season open and close is weather dependant. 

Closed Dates:
The Brush Site will be closed May 28 for Memorial Day, July 4 for Independence Day and September 3 for Labor Day. No other days will be substituted for these holidays.


Who can use the Brush Site?
The Brush Site is open for City of Willmar residents only.

What materials are accepted?
The compost facility will accept leaves, grass clippings and garden clippings only. Residents should note that leaves, grass, and garden materials must be separated from brush and branches.

What materials are not accepted?
Absolutely no lumber or garbage of any kind is accepted. No boxes, plastic bags or plastic of any type may be left at the site. No firewood may be removed.

Does the Brush Site offer Free Compost?
Yes, finished, unscreened compost may be taken from the brush site when available. Mechanical loading is prohibited.   

I don't live in Willmar, is there anywhere else I can bring my yard waste?
The Kandiyohi County Landfill also accepts brush and leaves at no charge.

The City of Willmar Brush Site is located 3 miles west of Willmar. From the corner of County Road 5 and Trunk Highway 40 travel 3-miles to County Road 116 (75th Street SW), turn left and go 1 mile south and then turn right. This Brush Site is 1/2 mile west of County Road 116 past the Willmar Trap Range and the Wastewater Treatment Facility.
